The Duncan Centre for Life Skills Development is a registered Non-Profit Company (NPC 2024/810077/08 | PBO 930086446) based in Winklespruit, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
We provide a safe, purpose-driven learning environment for teens and young adults with intellectual, developmental, and neurodivergent needs.
We believe in ability over disability — and that with the right support, every individual can grow, belong, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
Our weekday programs run Monday to Thursday, offering structured, life-enriching training in practical subjects like Home Management, Arts and Crafts, DIY and Trade Skills, Health and Wellbeing, and Special Interests. Each day is thoughtfully curated to build independence, confidence, and a sense of achievement.
On Fridays, our doors open wider: we host inclusive social events where homeschoolers and students from across KwaZulu-Natal come together to build friendships, practice social skills, and simply enjoy being young. These events play a vital role in supporting emotional and interpersonal development.
Looking ahead, The Duncan Centre is actively developing enterprise-based training opportunities, including:
• A student-run coffee shop, which will serve as a hands-on learning hub for baking, serving, hospitality, and customer interaction and
• “Clearing for a Cause”, a property services initiative with a social impact.
These projects — along with others still in the pipeline — are designed to offer our students real-world experiences in a nurturing and supportive setting.
The Duncan Centre was founded by Stephen James Frost and Ettiënne du Plooy-Wiecha, whose shared passion, lived experience, and deep care continue to shape everything we do. We apply great care in selecting our team, ensuring every facilitator and mentor embodies the same compassion, commitment, and understanding.
As a non-profit organisation, we rely greatly on the generosity of our community, sponsors, and donors. Every cent makes a difference, and every contribution helps us build brighter futures. Donations can be made directly to our bank account or via PayPal.
Your charity changes lives.
Together, we are empowering ability, restoring dignity, and building a more inclusive tomorrow for some truly amazing people!
